Western Union is a single by Five Americans. It is taken from their album Western Union/Sound of love. The song was written by three of the five: Mike Rabon, Norm Ezell and John Durrill. Rise to the song was that the guitarist Rabon was practicing on his guitar and made a sound that strongly resembled that of a key. Western Union was a Telegraph Company. It was next to Zip code, Sound of love, Evol-not love and I see the light one of the five successful singles. Not that it earned some money, the revenue the Group initially went to the boss of the record label, Abnak Records.
In 1967, there were versions of The Ventures and The Searchers. Elvis Presley also recorded a song titled Western Union, that song was written by Roy Bennett and Sid Tepper.
Chart Positions[Edit] Western Union became the only top 20 hit from the Five Americans in the Billboard Hot 100. The twelve weeks listing led to a top listing on 5. Sell In the Netherlands were not nearly as good. The hit parade of music Express left for one month, July 1967, an 18th place (for the release of Five Americans).
