The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (時をかける少女, Toki o Kakeru Shōjo) is a Japanese animated science fiction film from 2006 Romance directed byMamoru Hosoda and written by Satoko Okudera, based on the novel Toki o Kakeru Shōjo (1967) written by Yasutaka Tsutsui. The film was produced byMadhouse and distributed through Kadokawa Herald Pictures. Makoto Konno, a teenager who inadvertently Gets a mysterious force, learns of her aunt Kazuko Yoshihara that she has the ability to travel through time. Makoto begins to use her powers lightly to solve problems.
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time was released on 15 July 2006 under favorable criticism and won several awards, including the Japan Academy Prize for animation of the year. The English version was voiced by Ocean Productions and was released by Bandai Entertainment.

17-year-old Makoto Konno lives with her family in the Shitamachiarea of Tokyo, Japan. Makoto lives with her younger sister, Miyuki and her aunt, Kazuko Yoshihara, who art restorer is in the Tokyo National Museum. When a message is written on a discovered that Makoto chalkboard in her school, she falls unconsciously on a mysterious Walnut-shaped object. On the way home Makoto comes on a railroad crossing as she loses control of her bicycle and being run over by a train. But they spontaneously is teleported to a few minutes before the accident. Makoto learns from Kazuko that she has the power of "time-jumps" to literally jump from time to time by the time. Makoto initially used her powers to not to be too late, to get perfect scores in school and even to a singlekaraokesession to revive for several hours. Makoto soon learns that her actions may have bad consequences for others.
Makoto ends up now in the situation where they have to use more of its reckless leaps to avoid unpleasant situations, including a clumsy Declaration of love by her best friend Chiaki Mamiya. Finally, she discovers a numbered tattoo on her arm that counts down with each jump. She notes that the tattoo is an indication that they can make a jump a few times even more. With the few jumps that they left she tries everything set right. After Makoto impulsive her last jump used to prevent a call from Chiaki who wants to ask if she knows anything about by the time jump, she is too late to prevent her friend Kōsuke Tsuda and his new girlfriend Kaho Fujitani run over by a train when he used poor Makoto's bicycle. But time stands at that moment and Makoto sees Chiaki close.
Chiaki confesses that he comes from the future and has made a time jump to see a painting that currently recovers by Kazuko, because this destroyed is in the future. While they are to the frozen city walk gives Chiaki indications that its original era occurs after a global catastrophe destroys humanity. He reveals that he has used his last jump to avoid accident and that he Kōsuke's the time has stopped to explain to Makoto what the consequences will be. After he has unveiled its origin and the source of the object which gave Makoto the power through time to jump, he also explains that he must go away because he no longer can return to his own era. Makoto realizes too late that she also loves him.
Exactly as he said Chiaki disappears as soon as the time begins to run and Makoto is very upset. While she tries to stand with the fact that he is no longer there she discovers that Chiaki's time jump accidentally one of her jumps has restored because he has gone back to the point before she used her last jump.Makoto jumps safely back to the moment they got her powers and Chiaki one last time jump left. She reveals everything he told her in the future about who he is, about the power to jump through time and its reason to extend his visit to her time. Makoto promises him that she will ensure that the painting will be kept safe so that Chiaki can see it in his own time. While Chiaki leaves, he tells her that he will wait on Makoto in the future, which to him will Makoto replied that they run.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time was released in a small number of theaters in Japan, this brought it approximately ¥300 million (€2, 000, 000) on.[1] the film was advertised less than other animations in 2006 as Gedo Senki, but by word of mouth and glowing reviews[2] still caused a lot of interest. In the Shinjuku Theater was so popular that the film several days on end filled with some filmgangers the halls themselves were willing to stand up to the film. As a result,Kadokawa Herald Pictures expanded the number of theaters that showed the film in Japan and sins they the movie to preview several international film festivals.
Bandai Entertainment released the film in North America on november 19, 2006 at the Waterloo Festival for Animated Cinema and on 3 March 2007 at the 2007 New York International Children's Film Festival.

Although it is not a gigantic success was in the cinema, the film was very well received at several film festivals in which he was shown. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time got the Gertie Award for best animation film at the Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia39th. [3] it won the Animation Grand Award, which is awarded to the most entertaining animated film of that year, at the prestigious Mainichi Film Concours61st annual. It also received the first annual animation of the year prize at the 30th Japan Academy Prize. [4] it was nominated for, but did not win, the 27th Nihon SF Taisho Award. [5] it received the Grand Prize in animation division at the 2006 Japan Media Arts Festival. [6] On the 6th annualTokyo International Anime Fair, which opened on March 22, 2007, the film was recognizes as the "animation of the year" and it received multiple awards. [7] it received the special award for animated film at the French Festival International du Film d'Animation d'Annecy 31st on 16 June 2007. It played in full theatres in August 2007 for a display on the 9th Cinemanila International Film Festival in Manila,Philippines. Tsutsui Yasutaka praised the film as a "true second generation" of his book on the Tokyo International Anime Fair on March 24, 2006. [8]
