The Big Lebowski is a American comedy from 1998 by the brothers Joel and Ethan Coen.

Synopsis[Edit][]
"The Dude" Lebowski is mistaken for the millionaire Lebowski whose wife seems to have made quite a bit of debt. To get the money to get The Dude visit from two guys, of which "The Chinaman" on his carpet urinates to reinforce the request. Outraged at the loss of his beloved carpet ("it really tied the room together") goes The Dude looking for a fee for this carpet at his wealthy namesake.
He gets so caught up in an alleged kidnappings case and agrees to act as ' bagman ' at a high cost. To do this, he calls the help his friend Walter Sobchak, his first bowling partner next to Donny. Walter is a converted Jew who still has served in Viet Nam, with a not to dampen anger.
However, everything runs out of control, largely through the efforts of Walter, and suddenly everyone wants something of The Dude, by nihilists to porn directors.
