Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection is an upcoming compilation of video games developed by Digital Eclipse and published by Konami. It features thirteen Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video games developed by Konami during the 80s and 90s. It is scheduled to be released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S sometime in 2022.

Content[]

The Cowabunga Collection compiles thirteen Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games developed by Konami in the 80 and 90s: the 1989 NES platform game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the beat 'em up arcade game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles released in the same year, its NES port released the following year, the Game Boy game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of the Foot Clan, the NES game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project, the arcade and SNES versions of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, the Game Boy game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Back from the Sewers, the Sega Genesis game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist, the Game Boy game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Radical Rescue, and the distinct NES, SNES and Genesis versions of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters.[1]

The Cowabunga Collection adds save states, rewind functions, button mapping, as well as online capabilities in certain games and local co-op in all games where it was originally intended.[2] It also features an in-game museum that offers previously unseen development art, sketches and game design material for the titles.[3] Almost every game will include both the western and Japanese versions, with the exceptions being the first arcade game and the NES version of Tournament Fighters, which did not have Japanese versions.[4]

Development and release[]

The compilation is being developed by Digital Eclipse, which has previously worked on other retro collections, such as Disney Classic Games Collection and Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection.[4]

The Cowabuga Collection was announced as part of the PlayStation State of Play event on March 9, 2022.[5] The game is set to be released for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S sometime in 2022.[6] The game will also come in a Limited Edition that contains an original box, a physical copy of the game, cloth poster, acrylic diorama, enamel pin set, 12 tournament fighters cards, and a 180-page artbook. The box art and cloth poster were designed by franchise co-creator Kevin Eastman.[7][8]
