The Snowmads (or Snomads) are the main antagonists in the game Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. They are an organization of arctic and antarctic animals based on the stereotypical Template:Wp; hence, they are sometimes simply referred to as such.[1] The Snowmads are led by Lord Fredrik, a large Waldough with glowing blue eyes. The name "Snowmad" is a portmanteau of snow and Template:Wp, as well as being a pun on "snowman". Snowmads are said to be "hailing from the North Sea",[2] and are identifiable by their emblem, a snowflake, which is shown on their longships' sail rigs, flags, buckles, collars, streamers, suspenders, some Viking helmets, tents and Fredrik's throne.
The Snowmads set the events of the game in motion when their leader, using a giant white horn, summons a massive wind and an icy dragon. The dragon proceeds to blow the Kongs (Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, Cranky Kong, and Funky Kong) away from the island, allowing a Snowmad ship to station itself near the former location of the island's Volcano. The Snowmads then seize the island and throw it into a state of perpetual winter, forcing the Kongs to take their island back from them.
Throughout the course of the game, their main base is Donkey Kong Island, though, they have invaded every island that the Kongs arrive on. When the Kongs finally make it back to their isle, they make their way to the top, where the command ship is stationed. When they reach the top, they find the leader of the Snowmads, Lord Fredrik, sitting on an icy throne. The Kongs challenge him, but they shatter the icy ground, and they duel in the volcano. When Fredrik is defeated, he is blasted out of the volcano, and into the Snowmad armada, ending their reign over the island.
Snowmads appear to have attacked and invaded many islands, as they are found on every isle that the Kongs go to. They also appear to have great access to technology, as they are seen with mechs and cranes in certain levels.

Snowmad Ship | File:SnowmadShipTrophyWiiU.png | Wii U Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (02/2014) | While sailing the world in search of new lands, the Snowmads discover Donkey Kong Island. Viking-like thugs that they are, they freeze the whole island and take over. This small boat here is one of the vessels manned by minions. Lord Fredrik's ship, however, is MUCH bigger. Of course, it had to be — he's the Snowmad King, after all! |
