History[Edit][]

Rush was founded in 1968 by Alex Lifeson (guitar), John Rutsey (May 14, 1953 – 11 May 2008) (drums) and bassist Jeff Jones. After short time Jeff Jones replaced by bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee (actually Gary Weinrib). Home base is TorontoCanada. For example, they cover than just work of CreamJimi Hendrix and The Who. Until their first album appears shall take another keyboardist, which disappears again; Geddy gets out and then back in the band and Rush for a while even eliminated. In 1971, the group still mean business. Then in 1974 the self-titled debut album was released the band was singer/guitarist bassist Lee, Lifeson and drummer John Rutsey. On this first album Rush left a strong influence of hear Led Zeppelin . After Rutsey leaves the group the same year Neil Peart is hired as a replacement. He is the main songwriter and provides more in-depth texts than before. At "Caress of Steel" is Rush all slowly more progressive rockdirection, with lace 2 (then on lp with 2 sides) as a good example of this, given the buildup. With "2112" makes Rush finally the step towards progressive (hard) rock with another song on the album that covers an entire lp side. After their live album (alternating 4 studio albums with a live album is commonplace for Rush) do at "A Farewell to Kings" for the first time keys their appearance, played byGeddy Lee. The music is also more complex than on previous albums. The keys are to "Exit... Stage Left "especially in padding used. At "Signals" to "Hold your fire" are the keys much more dominant and there is the hard rock that Rush at the very beginning made not much left. With the album Roll The Bones Rush enters the 1990s. On this album features well-known songs as Dreamline, Bravado and the title song Roll The Bones. In 1993 follows Counterparts and is generally well received. After the release of the album Vapor Trails Rush by Brazilin 2002, touring, and the band gives a spectacular performance in Rio de Janeiro. In honor of their 30th anniversary Rush has been touring all over the world. The band then plays especially well known songs like Xanadu, 2112, The Spirit Of Radio, Tom Sawyer and Subdivisions. On October 1, 2004 locks Lifeson, Lee and Peart the tour off with a more than three-hour concert in Ahoy Rotterdam.

On 22 november 2005 the dvd of this tour appeared: Rush R30. This is the concert that was recorded in Frankfurt . In 2006 appeared "Replay X 3". First appear the (no longer available) live-videos "Exit Stage Left", "Grace Under Pressure" and "A Show of Hands" on dvd.

Rush started in June 2007 again with a world tour. The band decided because of the many fans in Netherlands and Western Europe this time two gigs in the framework of the "Snakes & Arrows Tour". On 16 and 17 October 2007 was again a number of Rush back in Netherlands for concerts. During these concerts in Ahoy Rotterdam were made recordings for the new live dvd by Rush, Snakes & Arrows Live. The shows lasted 3 hours.

In 2008 the band worked and other famous artists from the USA, the United KingdomCanada and South Africa together on the album Songs for Tibet, a statement of support to Tibet and dalai lama Tenzin Gyatso.Songs for Tibet appeared during the 2008 Summer Olympics in the People's Republic of China that were opened on 8 August: the album was released on 5 August via iTunes and from 12 August through music stores around the world. Since the invasion of Tibet in 1950-1951 China occupied the country with-according to critics-a widespread political, religious and cultural oppression as a result. [1]

In the summer of 2010 , the documentary "Beyond The Lighted Stage" premiere. It was an overview of the 40-year existence of the band will be shown on the basis of previously archive material and interviews with the band members. In North America started in that summer the "Time Machine Tour" where among other things the complete 1981 album "Moving Pictures" got. In June 2010 Rush got a star on the famousHollywood Walk of Fame. That same month appeared a new single called "Caravan". The two numbers on it, Caravan, BU2B and appeared on the next studio album "Clockwork Angels" that came out in June 2012.On May 27, 2011 Time Machine Tour was also in the context of the Netherlands (Ahoy, Rotterdam) done to them.

On 2 June 2013 the band did the Clockwork Angels to Ziggo Dome during their tour. The same year, Rush included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
