Propeller Mario is one of Mario, Luigi, the Blue/Yellow Toads, and Toadette's power-ups debuting in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. With it, the player is able to fly by shaking the controller (or by pressing ZR on a Wii U Gamepad, Joy-Cons, or Pro Controller). The player is also able to drill straight down to the ground, defeating enemies and destroying Brick Blocks while they're drilling.

Appearances[]

Propeller Mario debuted in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, where Propeller Mushrooms can be seen popping out of Princess Peach's birthday presents after Toad shot them out of the cannon in order to assist Mario and Co. on their way to rescue Princess Peach. Propeller Mushrooms are the most common power-up to be found in the game, appearing as early as the first level. If someone is carrying a second player who is in Propeller form, they can fly while carrying the other player.

Propeller Mario reappeared in New Super Mario Bros. U, and it's remake, granting Mario, Luigi, and the Toads the same abilities as the previous game. Propeller Mushrooms are now much more rare, as they can only be found in the Toad Houses of Star World.

In New Super Luigi U, Propeller Mushrooms are more common, though not nearly as much as New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Luigi and co. can find these power-ups after defeating enemies in the World Map.

Propeller Mario makes a cameo in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS as a collectable trophy.

Propeller Mushrooms appear as items players can place in Super Mario Maker and it's sequel, granting Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Toadette and the same abilities as he always had.
