Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series is the twenty-fifth season of the Pokémon animated series, and the third and final season of Pokémon Journeys: The Series, known in Japan as Pocket Monsters (ポケットモンスター, Poketto Monsutā), and in South Korea as Pocket Monsters W (포켓몬스터W, Poketmonseuteo W). The season premiered in Japan on TV Tokyo channel 7 from December 17, 2021 to March 24, 2023, in South Korea on May 4, 2022 on Tooniverse, and in the United States, it will release as a streaming television season on Netflix starting on October 21, 2022.[1] In Canada, the season is set to premiere on Teletoon on May 28, 2022 and Télétoon.[2]This season, the narrator of the Pokémon anime will culminate the research fellowship adventures of Ash Ketchum, Goh and Chloe, as they travel across all eight regions, including the new Galar region from Pokémon Sword and Shield and the Galar region's Crown Tundra from Pokémon Sword and Shield: The Crown Tundra, based at Cerise Laboratory in Vermillion City in the Kanto region. Ash ascends through the ranks of the World Coronation Series and Goh continues his work with Project Mew. Four episodes released on January 21 and 28, 2022 (exclusive to Amazon Prime Video in Japan) are an arc based on the Pokémon Legends: Arceus game, with the third and fourth episodes coinciding with the release of the games. The story arc will debut on Netflix on September 23, 2022, under the name Pokémon The Arceus Chronicles.
It was announced on December 17, 2022, that Ash and Pikachu would leave the anime as protagonists on March 24, 2023, but Ash Ketchum and Pikachu will return to the anime as protagonists later in the future. A To Be a Pokémon Master is slated to air that year, along with a new series when the Pokémon anime will focus on the new adventures of two new protagonists, Liko and Roy, starting on April 14, 2023.[3][4]

The trio head out to collect three clusters of Max Mushrooms that are required. After the Max Mushrooms are gathered, Allister starts preparing the soup. The World Coronation Series battle between Satoshi and Dracaena begins with Satoshi starting off with Negigaknight, while Dracaena brings out her Onvern. After Negigaknight struggles, Satoshi swaps it for Uonoragon. Dracaena also switches Onvern in favor of Tyltalis, which becomes Mega Tyltalis moments later. Uonoragon isn't able to do much, so Satoshi brings Negigaknight back out. Negigaknight takes out Mega Tyltalis with a Meteor Assault, but it faints as well. Onvern and Uonoragon are brought back out. Satoshi and Go are on their way to the contest hall when they are suddenly approached by Mikuri, who challenges Satoshi to a Pokémon battle, which Satoshi ends up winning. Koharu, Serena, and Ruthia all perform in the Pokémon contest, with Serena and Ruthia tying for first place. While Koharu and Serena say their goodbyes, Satoshi and Go both run past Serena to get on a boat with Koharu. Serena recognizes Satoshi and calls out to him. After Satoshi and Lucario prepare for their upcoming battle against Kibana, Go's Keromatsu suddenly evolves into a Gekogashira. Satoshi is reminded of his own Gekkouga and decides to head to Kalos to have Lucario learn some new techniques from Gekkouga. Later on, Satoshi and Lucario both feel Gekkouga's presence. When a bunch of roots appear and starts attacking Lucario, Gekkouga appears. Lucario and Gekkouga have a battle, but Lucario isn't able to keep up with Gekkouga's speed. Frustrated, Lucario runs off and is followed by Gekkouga. Gekkouga finds Lucario and starts teaching Lucario how to improve its aura abilities. When the two Pokémon detect that Satoshi and Go are in danger, they immediately run back to protect the boys. Lucario and Gekkouga join forces and take down the roots with a combination of Water Shuriken and Aura Sphere. With the situation now resolved, Satoshi and Lucario thank Gekkouga for its help and bid it farewell, with the latter disappearing back into the forest. | |||||

Go's next Project Mew trial mission is a battle royale against other Project Mew members, with the mission taking place at Sea Kinsetsu. During the trial, Go encounters his friend Tokio, and they team up to take on the remaining trainers. Go and Tokio wind up as the last two trainers, and Tokio decides that he wants to withdraw in order for Go to be declared the winner. However, Go convinces Tokio to battle him, with the battle resulting in Go's defeat. Tokio receives three tokens for being the winner, while Go receives two tokens. | |||||

Satoshi, Go, and Koharu head to the Crown Snowfield after hearing reports of a mysterious Pokémon. Lilie, Gladio, and Lusamine also make their way to the Crown Snowfield to continue their search for Mohn. Lilie and her family eventually find Mohn at a cabin, but he has no memory of them due to having amnesia caused from the accident that sent him away from his family many years earlier. Mohn reveals that he's been living with an Utsuroid, which he believes is actually Lilie. Satoshi, Go and Koharu also joins them. Lilie and Gladio restore their father's memories by making him look at a reflection of himself. The reunited family catches the Utsuroid that is revealed to have saved Mohn during the accident. The two defeat Shunya and Lyla in a battle, allowing them to have a crack at capturing the Legendary Pokémon first. Go and Shigeru eventually capture Regieleki and Regidrago respectively and pass the Trial Mission, with the both of them earning three Mew tokens. Satoshi and Go make their way to Professor Okido's lab and reunite with Satoshi's Pokémon from his past journeys. In a forest nearby, Satoshi and Shinji become reacquainted for the first time since their battle in the Sinnoh League. While all the Pokémon are elsewhere to train, Satoshi challenges Shinji to a battle, which Shinji accepts, declaring that it will be a three-on-three with no switching. Satoshi starts off the battle by sending out Lucario first, while Shinji sends out his Gyarados. Gyarados initially gets the upper hand on Lucario, but it gets taken out by Lucario's newly learned Bullet Punch. The next match up is between Satoshi's Kairyu and Shinji's Gaburias, with Kairyu eventually being knocked out. In the last battle, Gangar goes up against Shinji's Metagross. After taking a beating, Gangar uses its new Will-O-Wisp attack along with a Shadow Ball to defeat Metagross. Satoshi wins the battle, having earned two out of three wins. After Shinji leaves, it is revealed that Shinji had received an offer to become a Gym Leader, which is why he came to learn more about Pokémon from Professor Okido. The World Coronation Series Masters Tournament officially commences, but not before all of the members of the Masters Eight are introduced in an opening ceremony. After the introductions, the first round match-ups are revealed. Dande is pit against Alan, Wataru will face Carnet, Shirona is matched up against Iris, and Satoshi will take on Daigo. Next, the battle between Dande and Alan begins. Alan fails to take control for the entirety of the battle, and his ace Pokémon Lizardon is knocked out by Dande's own Lizardon in the last match-up, eliminating Alan from the tournament. Carnet sends out Pumpjin, while Wataru's next Pokémon is his shiny Gyarados. The battle becomes tied after Pumpjin defeats Gyarados. Next, Wataru sends out Sazandra and takes out Pumpjin, helping him earn a 2–1 lead. Carnet's last Pokémon is her ace, Sirknight, which immediately becomes Mega Sirknight. Mega Sirknight deals a super effective Moonblast and takes out Sazandra, tying the battle once again. Kairyu returns to the battle and is eventually Daimaxed. However, Kairyu isn't able to take the upper hand and ends up being defeated. Along with Dande, Carnet advances to the semifinals. | |||||

The third battle between the Isshu Champion Iris and Sinnoh Champion Shirona gets underway. Iris draws first blood when her Doryuzu takes out Shirona's Toritodon. Shirona's next Pokémon, Milokaross, quickly defeats Doryuzu with a single Hydro Pump. Iris chooses Kairyu as her second Pokémon. Milokaross wraps itself around Kairyu and knocks it out with an Iron Head, leaving Iris with just one last Pokémon. Next, Iris' Ononox manages to take out Milokaross, tying the battle. For her last Pokémon, Shirona chooses Gaburias, which eventually Mega Evolves into Mega Gaburias. With the battle nearing its end, Iris calls for a Dragon Pulse, with Shirona's Gaburias responding with a Draco Meteor. Satoshi's Uonoragon initially goes up against Daigo's Metagross, but Metagross is swapped for Bossgodora, who then proceeds to knock out Uonoragon. Satoshi's Gangar slows down Daigo's momentum by firing Bossgodora's Rock Tomb back at it, resulting in Bossgodora's defeat. However, Gangar is eventually taken out by Daigo's Yuradle, giving Daigo his second lead of the battle. Pikachu is able to avenge his fallen teammates by eliminating Yuradle. In response, Daigo unleashes his Mega Metagross, but it is unable to withstand Pikachu's 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt. Satoshi defeats Daigo, and he will move on to the next round to face Shirona. | |||||
