Nabooru of the Gerudo
Nabooru is a fictional character in Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda franchise, first appearing in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. She is the second-in-command of the Gerudo, Sage of Spirit, and guardian of the Spirit Temple.
Biography[]
Nabooru is the attractive second-in-command of the Gerudo. Like most Gerudo, she has red hair and gold eyes. Link, as a child, first meets her in the Desert Colossus; there she reveals that though she serves under Ganondorf, she wants nothing to do with his plans. She promises Link a great reward if he retrieves the Silver Gauntlets for her so she may steal the Gerudo's treasure and return it to the Hylians and other races that Ganondorf stole from, but she will keep some for herself and maybe give Link half of hers. Nabooru, however, is captured by Twinrova before she can receive the gauntlets, and subjected to the practices of brainwashing that Ganondorf has been researching. Seven years later, Link encounters her again within the Spirit Temple, but this time she is in the guise of an Iron Knuckle serving the evil witches, and he must defeat her. When Link completes the Spirit Temple and defeats Twinrova, Nabooru is awakened as the Sage of Spirit. Link receives the Spirit Medallion from her. It is never said what it was she intended to reward Link with if he gave her the gauntlets, however her final words in the Chamber were: "If I knew you would be such a handsome young man, I would have kept my promise back then." and the player can suggest that Nabooru has become attracted to Link.
In the manga, she was sent by the Twinrova sisters to make sure Sheik can take Link prisoner. She interrogated Link when he came to prison. He fought her, and in the process, cracked the gem on her forehead that served as the Twinrova sisters' means of controlling her. She then fought her comrades, eventually freeing them from the sisters' spell as well, while Link took Sheik out of harm's way. Nabooru then gave Link the Mirror Shield to defeat the Twinrova sisters. Nabooru then helped Link get into Ganon's Tower once she awakened as the Spirit Sage.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker[]
In The Wind Waker, Nabooru is seen on a stained glass window in the chamber holding the Master Sword. Other stained glass windows in the chamber depict the other five sages from Ocarina of Time.
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link[]
A town in The Adventure of Link is named after Nabooru.
