Films like 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), Silent Running (1972), Solaris (1972), Alien (1979) and Outland (1981) as a source of inspiration.
The budget of the film amounted to 3.7 million euros. The shooting lasted 33 days and found mainly takes place in a movie studio. In order to keep the costs as low as possible, the Director was counting on his experiences as an advertising maker and he used little actors. Jones also consciously chose to not to use digital animation , but thumbnails. These were designed by Bill Pearson, who had previously worked with composer Hans Zimmer on the design of the film Alien. By WGA strike in 2007-' 08 Jones also could appeal to some known employees who would be otherwise unavailable.
