Mission: Impossible is about an elite group of secret agents known as the Impossible Missions Force name (IMF). In the first season, the team is led by Dan Briggs ( Steven Hill ), and then Jim Phelps ( Peter Graves ). Their tasks include disabling dictators and criminal organizations, freeing a captured foreign diplomat in a fictional communist country, or the interception of secret documents. The command is a tape that destroys itself after eavesdropping ("This recording will self-destruct in five seconds ...").
