Mario & Luigi: Brothership[n 1] is an upcoming role-playing video game, and the sixth main installment in the Mario & Luigi series of video games. It will be the first original entry in the series since Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam (2015), the first that is not developed by AlphaDream, the first that features fully 3D gameplay, and the first for a home console.[n 2] The game was announced in a Nintendo Direct on June 18, 2024, and is scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch on November 7, 2024.[2]

Gameplay[]

The game will feature "evolved Bros. moves", as well as new locations.[3]

Setting[]

The game takes place on the sea of the world of Concordia and its islands, which Mario and Luigi traverse on Shipshape Island, a structure that is described as "part ship, part island."[4]

Development[]

After series creator AlphaDream filed for bankruptcy in 2019, Nintendo filed a new trademark for Mario & Luigi in January 2020.[5] In June 2024, following the reveal of the game, Nintendo noted that "some of the original developers" from the franchise are involved in the development of Brothership.[6]
