"Lumalee! Lumabop! Welcome to the Luma Shop!"
― Lumalee, Super Mario Galaxy

Lumalee is a blue Hungry Luma and a character who first appears in Super Mario Galaxy.

In the Super Mario series[]

Mario can find Lumalee in different galaxies, usually before boss areas.

Here, Lumalee holds a Life Mushroom and a 1-Up Mushroom that each cost 30 Star Bits. After paying Lumalee, she transforms into the item the player paid for.

Locations[]

  • Battlerock Galaxy -- Before Mario faces Topmaniac, Lumalee can be found on the north side of the saucer's top half (assuming that the staircase is on the southern side).
  • Ghostly Galaxy -- Lumalee appears on Bouldergeist's planet on the staircase that leads to the arena.
  • Bowser Jr.'s Airship Armada -- Lumalee appears near the checkpoint on the third Skyship.
  • Dreadnought Galaxy -- Lumalee appears in the same spot that she was in the Battlerock Galaxy on Topmaniac's saucer.
  • Melty Molten Galaxy -- Just before Mario blasts off to face the Dino Piranha's fiery counterpart in the third mission, he can find Lumalee waiting close to the Launch Star.

Super Mario Galaxy 2[]

Lumalee reappears in Super Mario Galaxy 2, instead holding Chance Cubes. They appear in Starship Mario. The first Lumalee will turn into a Chance Cube if paid 30 Star Bits. The second Lumalee will turn into five Chance Cubes if paid 100 coins. There is a chance of getting a Star Bit, a 1-Up Mushroom, three 1-Up Mushrooms, and five 1-Up Mushrooms.

Locations[]

Aside from appearing in Starship Mario's chance room, Lumalee can be found in the following galaxies, using the same design from Super Mario Galaxy:

  • Spin-Dig Galaxy -- After Mario blasts off from the dirt planet with the tower, he will land on a red Starshroom that contains a checkpoint and the Launch Star that leads to the Digga-Leg's planet. Lumalee also appears here.
  • Bowser Jr.'s Fiery Flotilla -- Just before the Launch Star that leads to the planet where Mario faces Bowser Jr.'s Gobblegut, he and Lumalee can meet up.
  • Puzzle Plank Galaxy -- Upon leaving the area with the Grinder gang (which destroys the wooden planks planet), Mario will land on a small wooden sphere where Lumalee appears, next to the Checkpoint and the Launch Star.
  • Boulder Bowl Galaxy -- On the third planet's moon in the mission Rock and Rollodillo, Lumalee can be found.
  • Freezy Flake Galaxy -- After Mario makes his way through the misty maze during the mission Sorbetti's Chilly Reception, Lumalee can be found near the Launch Star that leads to Sorbetti's planet.
  • Flipsville Galaxy -- Lumalee can meet Mario on a Starshroom that was parked high above the boss planet where Glamdozer lurks.
  • Slipsand Galaxy -- Lumalee appears at the base of the slide with the rolling stones where a Launch Star takes Mario to the sink hole where the Squizzard makes his lair.
  • Shiverburn Galaxy -- Upon leaving the lava flat with the ice crystals, Mario will be intercepted by a Starshroom on his way to Prince Pikante. Lumalee appears here to give him supplies just before his duel with the boss.
  • Battle Belt Galaxy -- After Mario makes his way past the pumpkin-shaped planet with the walking pumpkins that can summon flames, Lumalee will appear on a starshroom that intercepts Mario's path to the ice crystal-shaped planet where the Li'l Brr enemies lurk.
  • Boss Blitz Galaxy -- After his duel with Major Burrows, Mario will land at the arena with Bouldergeist. Lumalee appears on the staircase that he needs to take to get there, next to the Checkpoint Flag.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie[]

Lumalee makes an appearance in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, where he was first revealed in the final trailer. He speaks in a child's voice, with his monologues asserting that there is no hope of escape except death. The king of a kingdom of Penguins describes him as insane and tells Luigi to ignore the Lumalee-esque Luma.
