The famous Lucifer Alpha "incident" at Chernolton Research facility.
Lucifer-Alpha is a fictional chemical weapon from the video game Snatcher.
History[]
Fifty years prior to the events of the game, Lucifer-Alpha was developed in Russia and released into the atmosphere, triggering an outbreak that resulted in the death of 80% of the Eurasian and Eastern European population which in turn resulted in the death of half of the world's population. The contaminated area became uninhabitable for a decade, when Lucifer-Alpha mutated into a non-lethal form. This tragic event later became known as "The Catastrophe".
The game's ending reveals that Elijah Madnar was the one who released Lucifer-Alpha, intending for it to wipe out humanity so he could replace them with Snatchers.
