Led Zeppelin was an English rock band, formed in 1968 by guitarist Jimmy Page, after he was the only member of the Yardbirds was left over. In addition to Page Led Zeppelin existed from Robert Plant (vocals), John Paul Jones (bass and keyboards) and John Bonham (drums). One of the best-known songs from Led Zeppelin'sStairway to Heaven. Biography[Edit][]
The New Yardbirds[Edit][]
In July 1968 Jimmy Page remained as only about of The Yardbirds. There had to be some gigs in september yet contractually played in Scandinavia. Page wanted toTerry Reid as a singer, but that just had a new record deal and ordered to Robert Plant . This in turn brought along drummer John Bonham . John Paul Jones, who had previously had worked with Page, was bass player for the group. The very first number that the group played was Train kept a Rollin', a number that the Yardbirds had also played. The Group did from 7 to 17 september 1968 in Denmark, Sweden and Norway eight performances under the name The New Yardbirds. The first performance was on 7 september 1968 in the Gladsaxe Teen Club in the place to Gladsaxe Denmark. Other ' Yardbirds'-songs that the group played were: Dazed and confused andWhite Summer. The first was an adaptation of a song by Jake Holmes that would appear on the first album of Led Zeppelin. The second was a song written by Jimmy Page, that on Little Games , a 1967 album by The Yardbirds.
Led Zeppelin[Edit][]
In October 1968, the Group Then goes on his first record. the Group of 15 October to 20 december 1968 under the name Led Zeppelin, named after Keith Moons way to describe a bad gig (goin' down like a lead zeppelin), on a concert tour of England. After starting an American tour of 26 december 1968 to 8 February 1969. The setlist consists mainly of songs from the first album. In addition the group among other things Killing Floor, a blues song by Howlin' Wolf which later in an edited version as The Lemon Song on Led Zeppelin II will land and Pat's Delight, a drum solo by John Bonham Moby Dick that if that same album also will end up on.
On 12 January 1969 Led Zeppelin 's first album comes out, a lp with both hard blues as acoustic numbers. In the same year comes from Led Zeppelin II , an album whose numbers in different places during tours are included. On Led Zeppelin III to hear its English folkinfluences, a sound that is strengthened on Led Zeppelin IV . The fourth album is written in Runic characters , because of the title, also called called The Runes Album . On this album is the world hit (and all-time classic) Stairway to Heaven, which, however, never was released as a single. Drummer Bonham died on 25 september 1980. Late 1980, several months after the death of Bonham, Led Zeppelin held to exist. Posthumous Codaalbum appeared, including some not previously published issues from the period 1969-1978.
Performances after 1980[Edit][]
In 1985 there was a special appearance by the three remaining members (along with Phil Collins and Tony Thomson of Chic on drums) at the benefit concert (Live Aid) in America; also at the 25th anniversary of their record company in 1988 (Atlantic Records) they performed one more time on, with Jason Bonham, the son of John Bonham, drummer was.
On 10 december 2007 there was a one-time action (again with Jason Bonham on drums) in the O2 Arena Stadium in London as a tribute to their deceased founder, Ahmet Ertegün. For the 20,000 available maps there are world-wide have been about 20 million requests. [1] the press was very enthusiastic about this reunion concert and there were afterwards rumours on a world tour. In early 2009 it became clear that Led Zeppelin is no longer touring.

Led Zeppelin has more than 200 million albums worldwide[2] sold, of which 111.5 million in the United Statesalone. These high sales figures are pretty remarkable, because the tape first, but ten to eleven year existed and secondly, no real ' hit machine ' was, but more of a band that had to have it from the albums. From this it can be concluded that Led Zeppelin would be among the best rock bands ever and that band to this day has not yet lost its share of the music. Still being Led Zeppelin as an example or source of inspiration seen by countless new musicians.
