Joanne "Jo" Rowling (Yate[1at Bristol31 July 1965) is an English writer. She is best known as the creator of the Harry Potter-fantasy series, which they invented during a train journey between Manchester and London in 1990. The Potter-books got worldwide attention and won multiple awards, there are also more than 500 million copies sold. The books formed the basis for the Harry Potter-movie series, in which Rowling in two of the eight parts as producer occurred.
