Used to power Quake and its sequel Quake II. id Tech 2 introduced full 3D rendering and skyboxes.

id Tech 3 was also used to power the original Call of Duty. It would later be modified into the IW Engine which has been used since Call of Duty 2.

Popularly known as the Doom 3 engine, id Tech 4 introduced dynamic shadows and lighting.
Other games that use id Tech 4 include Quake 4, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Wolfenstein (2009) and Brink.
