[1][2]Goathland (Aidensfield station) Station was extensively used in the series.==Structure of the series[Edit]==

[3][4]Post Office and shops of Goathland, which is often the setting for the series Heartbeat.[5][6]Goathland Hotel is the set for theAidensfield Arms[7][8]Goathland Hotel as Aidensfield Arms If the pub of Aidensfield.[9][10]North York Moors.

The police have always busy with both criminal cases that are worked out by the whole episode and eventually always resolved as well as the small sins of one of the local residents who try to save money everywhere. Each episode has these two story lines as a thread in all seasons of this series. Important landmarks are: Ashfordly Police stationAidensfield Police houseAidensfield Arms (the local Inn), Ashfordly Hall and its estate (Lord Ashfordly), Scripps Garage (Bernie Scripps) andBrowhousefarm (House of Claud Jeremiah Greengrass, David, Vernon and Peggy).

Oscar Blaketon begins as sergeant at the police station but after his resignation he soon takes the Adensfield Arms about and tries to play the detective from there along with his former colleague Alf Ventres.

In the first four seasons focused on the policeman Nick Rowan and his wife doctor Kate Rowan. He was assigned to the Aidensfield police House in the heart of North Yorkshire Moor and is attached to the Ashfordly police station. His later successors in the series also retain this function.

The first seasons were some grim in nature, and there were issues such as foot & mouth diseasemotorcycle gangsfree sexdomestic violenceprotest actionssquatting movements and drug abuse later seasons are based more on child protectionalcoholismcontraceptivesprofessional crimegambling addiction and healing.

The doctors and nurses also play an important role in it clear of mysteries or the love life of the agents. Most doctors of Aidensfield come dramatically to life. Doctor Ferrenby Gets a heart attack and drowns, Kate Rowan died of leukemia, Neil Bolton comes to in a fire, Tricia Sommerbee falls from her horse and dies from her injuries and Hellen Trent is an explosion. On the other hand, doctor Liz marries the grantor of Lord Ashfordly and moves to Africa.

Another fixture is the love affair between the agent Phill Bellamy and the owner of his local Inn Gina Ward. That gives problems on regulair area. Seasons was there by those two flirted.

A mystery that has never been solved is Mrs Ventress, the wife of agent Alf Ventress. She was called almost every episode, or spoken over the phone with her. This character, however, never came into view. Nevertheless, a character which Mrs Ventress was better known throughout the series. Alf could count on when he had done something stupid, he better at a colleague could stay overnight. That was the case, for example, at one of its night shifts in the cold winter. He found a snug spot in the train at the station, and fell asleep there. Woken up he noticed soon that he was no longer in Aidensfield. Thereupon he called to the station and instructed his younger colleague to inform his wife that he was on research, and his sergeant to let in limbo. The truth, however, came at the top table.

Claud Jeremiah Greengrass is a thorn in the side of the local police. His small sins are irritating, but never deliver an arrest on his followers Vernon Scripps and Peggy Armstrong also know how one can earn money quickly in many ways. This, however, almost always ran out on nothing.

David, a grown man with a child's brain and gullible, is their helper and was often the victim of.

Location[Edit][]

Heartbeat took place in the village of Aidensfield, that in reality, Goatland is called, and in Ashfordly (Grosmont). Both places are on the train connection Goatland-Grosmont- Pickering - Whitby. Whitby is a port town on the North Sea, and was regularly used for scenes in the series.

[13][14]The train from Pickering to Gromont===Mark Jordon as Phillip "Phil" Montgomery Bellamy and Tricia Penrose as Georgina "Gina" Ward[Edit]===

Pc Phil Bellamy is there from the first episode at until his exit in the sixteenth season, where he was shot.

Phil Bellamy was the police officer of the local police station in Ashfordly. Ashfordly is his beat (district). In the beginning he is what casual and naive and runs a regular Argus, but was later in the series a policeman.

As George of the Aidensfield Arms get health problems, his niece Gina Ward help him. It will continue from that point on a fixed character of the series. Although in the beginning a normal teenager grows Gina on and teaches the accountability to wear for the pub. Gina is, however, often unlucky in love, and her new boyfriend to have another, or criminal, making him picking up the local police. Also later interfered Oscar regularly with her love life. Gina, is later the owner of the Aidensfield Arms and Phil is her new love and they had a premature baby who died after three days. As a result, they grew apart again.

Phil Bellamy later encounters the single mother of three, Debbie Black, with whom he later marries. However, the marriage will last long if it turns out that the first man of Debbie is not dead but has left her and never with him since the marriage has been dissolved is Phil again a free man.

Phil and Gina come later back together and they eventually marry. Gina turns out a short time later to be pregnant.

Phil was eventually shot dead as he was a boy trying to protect. [9]

William Simons as Alfred "Alf" Ventress[Edit][]

The character Alf Ventress (played by William Simons) has played an important role from the start. Alf is policeman who prefer behind his desk with a hard boiled egg, than that he should venture out. His local knowledge is vast and passes the local police archive. He also smokes a cigarette as often as possible and he sometimes comes in problems with his interest in gambling and betting on horse races.

After his retirement at the police station there was a summer job as a civil agent, where he created more going to focus on the support of the corps and manned the station when the agents are broadcast. Along with Oscar Blaketon who works as a private detective, they solve all kinds of problems, where Oscar on the knowledge of Ventress trusted.

Alf Ventres is married to the much discussed Mrs. Ventress. His wife, however, never comes into focus.

Derek Fowlds as Oscar Blaketon[Edit][]

Oscar Blaketon was in the first seasons in Ashfordly police station sergeant. The police work he takes very seriously until he retires due to heart problems. Short time he works as the owner of the local post office before he teamed up with Gina the Aidensfield Arms goes running. The counterpart in the series, Claude Jeremiah Greengrass, Oscar is a thorn in the side of him and does everything for it to be able to arrest and to lock up under lock and key. [10]

Bill Maynard as Claud Jeremiah Greengrass and David[Edit][]

[15][16]The train from the series Heartbeat, which Claud Jeremiah Greengrass clinched.

Claud Jeremiah Greengrass is an OAF who intends to save a buck anywhere. His grin and Flash it with his eyes, however, prove how it really goes with him. Its fixed line:I'm nearly an old age pensioner was regularly used to want to avoid punishment. Furthermore, he always runs in his old clothes and he is regularly found on Lord Ashfordly's estate, where he hunts pheasants and rabbits.

His most dangerous action stems from an episode where he with his friend Martin Oppeshaw hijacks a drunken local train and they been together for slurring through the countryside drive.

Since David is not the smartest of the class, and his mother can no longer care for him, and Greengrass suspect created there can be abuse of Greengrass takes him under his wing. In turn makes Greengrass or abuse of that situation on certain chores to renovate whereby David often gets into trouble.

Alfred is the dog of Greengrass. This became in the course of the 14 seasons replaced 4 times (incidentally all females). Where David was, there was Alfred also.
