Harvest Moon DS Cute (Bokujou Monogatari Korobokkuru Sutēshon for Gaaru) is a farm simulation video game published and developed by Marvelous Interactive Inc. in Japan, and released by Natsume in North America. It is a simulation game made for the Nintendo DS handheld video game console.

Gameplay[]

Harvest Moon DS Cute is the same game as Harvest Moon DS, but instead of playing as the male protagonist, the protagonist is female. Players can choose from Jill from the Gamecube game Another Wonderful Life or Clair from the Gameboy Advance More Friends of Mineral Town. Compared to the previous title, most of the bugs have been removed.

The focus of Harvest Moon DS Cute is to create a successful farm by raising and selling crops, raising and selling the produce of various animals, and raising a family.

You can raise a family by courting one of the bachelors and raising his AP (Affection points) to a high enough level. Each 10000 points bring his heart to the next color. At the Red level you will be able to marry him (if you have also upgraded your house twice, bought a big bed and saved 60 sprites). AP can be raised at festivals, by talking to the bachelor often or by giving him a favorite item (different items raise points by 800, 500, 300 and 100 points depending on preference level). Only one gift a day will affect AP, the rest just contributes to FP (Friendship points).

Friendship points show how much a character likes you. Unlike AP, which only the bachelors have, FP applies to all characters in the game.

Both FP and AP can be monitored through the purchase of a special item from the Harvest Sprite Casino.

The game starts off with your character sleeping in bed a few harvest sprite and the harvest goddess are standing next to the bed. The harvest king is mad at the harvest goddess because your character will not work. The harvest goddess is turned to stone and both the harvest goddess and the harvest sprites are sent to another world. When you wake up the witch princess tells you the harvest sprites and goddess are gone. It is now up to you to save them by growing crops, fishing, raising animals, and making lumber and stone.

At first there are some characters you will not meet including: Skye, Kai, The Harvest Goddess, the princess hidden in the mine, and the Mineral town characters

Bachelors[]

At the start of the game, there are seven potential bachelors: Carter, Griffin, Gustafa, Marlin, Rock, Kai, and Skye. Carter, Griffin, Gustafa, Marlin, and Rock each (with the exception of Kai and Skye) has their own rival girl. This basically means if you don't marry the other boys, their rival will.

  • Carter - An older man who is a serious archeologist who works at the dig site with his assistant, Flora. Flora is your rival. Don't feel too bad for Flora if you marry Carter, because she always has a secret admirer: Daryll
  • Griffin - A man who runs the Blue Bar with Muffy. Muffy is your rival.
  • Gustafa - A traveling minstrel who lives alone in his yurt. He is pretty much the "hippie" of the town. Nami is your rival.
  • Marlin - A serious, yet shy farmer who works at his sister Vesta's farm with Celia. He will warm up considerably once you get to know him. Celia doesn't have to be your rival, but she lives in the same house as him, so you don't want them to get too close! He likes Elli Leaves the most, but he'll settle if you give him some wine that can easily be found at the Supermarket.
  • Rock - A fun-loving party-goer who lives in the inn and doesn't work and is the most handsome person according to most people. Lumina is your rival.
  • Kai - A free spirit who opens up a beach stand every summer, but is absent all other seasons. He has no rivals, though in past games Popuri has been his rival.
  • Skye - A mysterious, flirtatious thief that warns his victims before he robs them. He has no rival, but Lumina and Muffy each have a little crush on him. He has an easy way of handling girls, and he won't fight with men, so he will put up a distraction and then escape. He likes to think of himself as "smooth talking". He appears from 10:00pm-12:00am, game time.He does not show up until you meet Lumina.

In addition to these bachelors, inserting a copy of Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town or Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town will unlock the four Mineral Town bachelors otherwise absent from the game. In addition to that some of the mineral town girls will arrive, but will not be rivals.

Rick: The overprotective brother of Popuri, yet sweet and hardworking. He's also the person you talk to in order to get sheep and cows. In past games, he did not get along well with Kai. He can be seen on Sundays.

Grey: A shy, hardworking blacksmith who's always trying to impress his grandfather. He'll upgrade your tools if you call him. He shows up on Thursdays

Cliff: A shy wanderer who's always quietly thinking to himself. You'll meet him on Saturdays.

Trent: Dr. Hardy's training doctor. He's very passionate on absolutely anything to do with health. He can be found in the Forget-Me-Not Valley on Wednesdays.

Kids Appearance: If you have a boy it will be a mix of you and your husband. most likely his eyes, you color hair, and depends on the clothes.

Girl: Your eyes and his color hair, probably with a t-shirt and pants.

Another new addition is the Best Friends system, which lets the player coax one of the four special girls into becoming your Best Friend by following the same steps as if you were going to marry them in Harvest Moon DS. Instead of a marriage ceremony, the two of you will meet on the beach at a Best Friends ceremony. Afterward the girl will then move into your farmhouse; later on, your best friend will bring you a random child that any of the 5 bachelors could have. This is not available in the U.S. or European version.

Heart events are also here, wherein you could court men and wed them. Each bachelor has 4 (Black, Purple, Blue, Yellow) with the exception of Skye, who also has Green.

HMDS CUTE DIFFERENCES

Aside from the addition of the Best Friends system, letting you play as a female character, and giving you two characters to chose from. Harvest Moon DS Cute also allows you to customize your clothes and the interior of your house. The bachelors will also change clothes. More random events have been added, and you can now have either a boy or girl child.
