Freddy's Claws

Freddy brandishing his glove in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.

Freddy Krueger's glove is his signature weapon throughout the series. Krueger created it himself in his boiler room hideout out of sheet metal, pipes, fishing knives, rivets, and an old leather work glove.

History[]

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)[]

In the first film, the glove consisted of fourteen parts: the glove, the backplate, four fingers, four fingertips, and the four blades. Freddy is shown making the glove in the opening scene.

The glove has very short blades, as well as a large rivet on the index finger.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge[]

Freddy Finger Claws

Freddy's claws extending from his actual fingers.

Largely unchanged from the original film, the glove appears on Jesse Walsh's hand whenever Freddy is done possessing him. When Freddy does possess him during the climax of the film, the claws of the glove extend directly from the tips of his bare fingers.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors[]

Let's Get High

Freddy shifts his glove into drug needles.

In this film, the blades of the claws are larger and the backplate is more weathered. Freddy briefly transforms the glove into drug needles to fatally inject Taryn White.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master[]

Relatively unchanged from the previous film, but the overall color became more green and red with messy spills of solder all over.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child[]

Bon Appetit Bitch

In this film, the glove but became more bright and red, with bigger blades and fewer and more silver solder spills.

During his killing of Greta Gibson, Freddy also manifests a spoon attachment to force-feed Greta, and later to taunt Mark Gray.

Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare[]

Gloves

Additional gloves in Freddy's basement.

In this film, the glove features thicker spills of solder than either one, but also thicker metal fingers, and is also lighter in color.

Aside from the main glove, there was a flashback sequence where Kathryn Krueger discovered numerous bladed gloves in the basement, all of which had different designs. One glove featured spikes on the backplate and fingers rather than long blades on the fingertips.

Wes Craven's New Nightmare[]

The Demon uses a heavily altered version of the glove. It has a fifth claw on the thumb, and overall a more organic appearance, resembling the exposed muscle tissue of an actual hand.

Freddy vs. Jason[]

In the film, the glove is closer to the Dream Warriors incarnation, but has a more gray color and larger blades.

The glove in the remake

In the remake, the glove is redesigned as a metal gauntlet with four finger bars, but it is patterned after its original design. Its blades are thicker and larger.
