Cursa (クルサ[2], Kurusa, Cursa) is the main antagonist of Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. It is a mysterious and malevolent entity who wishes to cause the galaxy to be thrown into chaos[1], and consumes Luma-Rabbid hybrids called Sparks to pursue such goals.
Profile[]
Physical description[]
Cursa is a tall entity who possess a red eye (though it's not known if it has two eyes and only shows one of them). It wears a purple cloak, and can project ghostly hands called Astral Arms to attack its enemies. When its vulnerable side is shown, its eye is blue.[3]
Once Rosalina freed herself from Cursa's control, its true form is revealed. It is a floating purple entity with a face that has a mask with a close resemblance to a Rabbid.
Personality traits[]
To pursue its own goals, Cursa will never hesitate to kill anyone who will stand in its way.[1] In addition, it is largely cruel and evil; and will always accept any challenge of killing anyone. Template:Sectstub
Biography[]
Cursa was once Megabug. Megabug was defeated in the process by Mario and his team. Despite being defeated, Megabug's fragment remained as it floated through the galaxy. As it merged with the stellar debris, it regained it feelings. With a desire to grow, it consumed light energies from the galaxy leading to the rebirth of Cursa.[4]
Cursa was intrigued by the powers of the light energy produced by the Lumas' joy with the Rabbids that they was drawn to the Comet Observatory. While approaching the observatory, it masked its presence that Rosalina could not sense its arrival. When Rosalina noticed Cursa's arrival at the last moment, they shielded the Lumas and Rabbids from Cursa. While the Rabbids and Lumas were saved, resulted the Rabbids and Lumas to merge into Sparks. In the meantime, Rosalina merged with Cursa. Despite Cursa being able to control Rosalina, it can feel her rebelling against the union in hopes of counting on Mario and his crew to save her and the Sparks. Cursa's goal is to gather the Sparks and absorb their energy to crush Rosalina's will. Cursa then created an army consisting of corrupt Rabbids, brainwashed minions of Bowser and Spark Hunters.[4]
Sparks of Hope[]
While the Rabbids, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Rabbid Peach, Rabbid Mario, Rabbid Luigi and Beep-0 were chatting in the Mushroom Kingdom, Starburst and the Sparks signalled for help to the crew as the Darkmess invades the kingdom. The Darkmess grabs into Rabbid Peach leading to the events of Mario, Starburst and Beep-0 attempting to rescue her and escape out of the Darkmess.
- "That vicious HORRIBLE monster is CURSA!!! We barely escaped it - now it won't stop chasing us!!"
- ― Starburst to Mario, Rabbid Peach and Beep-0
Mario, Beep-0 and Rabbid Peach encountered Cursa. It brainwashes the Goombas into attacking the crew. While the crew fought the Goombas, a WM ARC rescued them and escaped before Cursa does any harm.
- "I NEED the energy of those creatures! Bring them to ME!"
- ― Cursa to the Spark Hunters
Much to Cursa's anger, it commands the Spark Hunters to bring the Sparks to Cursa. Template:Sectstub
In Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope[]
Cursa makes its appearance against Mario, Beep-0 and Rabbid Peach. The player cannot fight against Cursa, but against the Goombas it brainwashes.
Battle[]
Cursa appears as the final boss of Sparks of Hope. It has three phases for its defeat. The battle against Cursa is fought with the entire party being available, albeit with three on each battlefield.
Phase 1[]
The first phase of the battle pits the gang against Cursa's arms. These arms will float over one target, counterattacking Team Jumps and attempts to jump from jump pads, but their main weakness is the spikes that can be spawned from using said jump pads. If it tries to attack someone who positions themself near said spike, the Astral Arm will take damage rather than actually attacking.
Phase 2[]
Cursa is fought in phase 2, where their body can be targeted. Cursa's attacks include an energy beam that can cause Exhaustion.
Phase 3[]
During this phase of the fight, Rosalina will break free of Cursa's control. She reforms her body and generates three gargantuan copies of her wand, which hover in between Cursa and the heroes. Attacking the wands will grant energy to the wands passed over to Rosalina; the stronger the attack, the greater the boost. The wands will reach their maximum charge after around 6000 to 7000 damage's worth of energy. Cursa still uses the energy beam from before. When Rosalina's gauge is fully charged, she will use the energy to attack Cursa. Template:Sectstub
Trivia[]
- Despite the game referring to Cursa with gender neutral pronouns, Cursa is referred by female pronouns in one twitter post.[5]
