Androids may also be a product of molecular bioengineering that come in various forms based on need, from carbon-based duplicates or clones of real humans, to those based on silicon or liquid metal.
Examples of quintessential androids would be:
- Data from the Star Trek universe
- KOS-MOS from the Xenosaga universe
- Andrew Martin from The Positronic Man.
Cyborgs, synthetics, and hardwares are considered distinct from androids and should be classified into Category:Fictional cyborgs or Category:Fictional artificial intelligences or Category:Fictional computers, respectively.
