Capcom Versus (also commonly known as VS./vs.) is a series of crossover games, primarily of the fighting genre, developed by Capcom, pitting their characters against characters from other companies such as Marvel Comics, SNK, Namco and Tatsunoko.
The games credited with inspiring them, although they are not considered actual entries in the series, are X-Men: Children of the Atom and Marvel Super Heroes.
Capcom has also produced several game mash-ups including only their own characters, but some of them are not counted as part of the series. Additionally, certain crossovers games (such as Capcom & Psikyo All Stars or Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney) as well as crossovers featuring Capcom characters but developed by other companies are also not considered "official" entries in the Versus series.
