The name of the Group was initially not intended to be short for "Brothers Gibb". The brothers initially played together as the Rattlesnakes, later Wee Johnny Hayes & the Bluecats and under that name, they were introduced to radio dj Bill Gates. That was done by Bill Goode, after he saw them on the Brisbane Speedway Circuit. Bill Gates coined the name "Bee Gees" and based on his and Goodes initials: BG. as the group in the late sixties independent success began to harvest, the name was more associated with "ibb"BRother G.
