Was a pop group Bee Gees around the twin brothers Robin Gibb (december 22, 1949 - May 20, 2012, vocals) and Maurice Gibb (22 december 1949 – 12 January 2003,bass guitar, keyboard and vocals) and their older brother Barry Gibb (1 september 1946, guitar and vocals).
The name of the Group was initially not intended to be short for "Brothers Gibb". The brothers initially played together as the Rattlesnakes, later Wee Johnny Hayes & the Bluecats and under that name, they were introduced to radio dj Bill Gates. That was done by Bill Goode, after he saw them on the Brisbane Speedway Circuit. Bill Gates coined the name "Bee Gees" and based on his and Goodes initials: BG. as the group in the late sixties independent success began to harvest, the name was more associated with "ibb"BRother G.

Biography[Edit][]
The brothers are born on the Isle of Man, but in 1958 they emigrate to Australia. There starts their career, and in 1967 they return to England, where they form a group with Vince Melouney, (guitar), and Colin Petersen(drums). In Australia and Netherlands have them around that time Spicks and speckswith their first hit, in England and elsewhere follow numbers New York mining disaster 1941, as Massachusetts, Words, World, I've gotta get a message to you and Holiday.
After the album Odessa (1969) leaves Robin the group due to artistic differences, and he scores a solo hit with Saved by the bell. Maurice Gibb married the Scottish singer Lulu. The group is founded and later ceased operations again. From the moment Jive talkin' in 1975 a US number-one hit is surprising, the wire and picked up again with the release of the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever in 1977, the Group suddenly immensely popular, and one of the most important exponents of the discobecome.
The sound of the Bee Gees is apart, especially striking is their singing with high falsetto voices.
The Bee Gees writing and producing at that time plates such as Barbra Streisand, Diana Rossand Dionne Warwick . Robin Gibb makes again in 1983 a solo LP.
After 1981, the quiet around the group, but in 1987 they make their third come-back with the number You win again, a British number-one hit. A fourth brother, Andy Gibb, the end of the seventies of the 20th century a popular teen idol, dies in 1988, precisely when he would come as a fourth member of the group. On 12 January 2003 dies unexpectedly of a bowel infarctionMaurice. This is an interruption of the blood supply to the intestines, a rare condition that sometimes occurs at a twisting of the intestines where the intestinal tract (usually partial) is pinched. For this was Maurice also initially hospitalized. Robin and Barry go their own way with the most notable result a renewed cooperation between Barry and Barbra Streisand Guilty pleasures , in 2005. Cooperation between Robin and Alistair Griffin with the song My lover's prayer goes well and comes in at three in England. Barry and Robin said they never would make music under the name Bee Gees, under the name "Brothers Gibb" Barry and Robin performed in February 2006 for the first time since the death of their brother back together on. on 7 september 2009 they announced to go touring again as Bee Gees.
In november 2011, it was announced that Robin Gibb, then 61, was suffering from liver cancer. He died on May 20, 2012. With it came a definitive end to the Bee Gees.
